Work Based Learning

Work based learning is an educational internship program, not a part time job.
Students earn high school credit while gaining valuable on the job experience
in a career path interest to the participating student.

Qualifications for work based learning include:

sequence of career path within an educational program

successful application process through cooperating business/industry partner.

The Science and Technology Academy  prepares students to enter the twenty-first century as independent, critical thinkers and decision makers.  Academy students gain knowledge, skills and experience needed in business and industry to think, solve problems, and communicate what they are thinking, solve problems, and communicate what they are thinking.   The foundation for this vision is to train future leaders in Science, technology and communication fields for present and yet-to-be invented future careers.  Other benefits are:

Qualifications 

Successful completion of English 9, Math and Science or Engineering Technology during their freshman year.2.0
GPA (probationary status is available for some students with less than a 2.0 GPA at first semester.)
Academy starts at grade 10.

Academy participants end up with an excellent background in science, technology and communication. The Engineering Technology/Materials Science Academy prepares students for careers of today and careers that have not yet been invented.
